Directions for setting up of the Mushroom Biosphere ®™
PARTS LIST: 1 main body with fittings,
1 screw top cap, 1 ultrasonic fogger /ionizer, 1 HEPA air pump, 2 air
line hoses, 2 ½” hoses, (2 incubator tubs, 2 grommets, 2 water
heaters, if ordered) and large grow chamber
(55cubic liters) pre-drilled and thread tapped with HEPA
filter. Plus the accessory bag which contains 2
liter bag of magic coconut coir growth booster ®™ , 2 large
perlite bags, 2 large pre-mix vermiculite bags with mineral food, 4
HEPA filters, 4 rubber tie downs, 2 pair latex gloves, 1 spray bottle,
1 Lab mask, 1 alcohol towel, 1 bottle rubbing alcohol, 1 liquid crystal
thermometer,1 lure lock syringe w/needle & Para film to seal syringe
and 500ML of Deep Blue Water
®™

ADDITIONAL ITEMS NEEDED (NOT INCLUDED)
: 7 day/14 setting digital timer and a shop light. Pair of thick
(leather) gloves or towel. (if you ordered the incubator
tubs), vaseline and a pair of scissors.
Connect all hoses to its proper fitting
on the Biosphere, to the air pump and to the Grow Chambers.

Screw the 2 straight (one end is
threaded and the other side is slip) fittings into the bottom
2 holes on the grow chamber. Take the square HEPA filter and spray them
with alcohol on both sides then place them over the straight fittings,
and rubber band them into place with the enclosed bands.

Screw the white elbow into the middle top hole. This
is the connector for the Biosphere.

Now it's time to clean the unit. It's highly recommended
to put on some fresh clean clothes, than wash your hands and arms. Put
on a pair of latex gloves that come with your kit and spray your arms
and hands with the rubbing alcohol from your kit. Spray and wipe down
the location you wish to set up your kit up with the alcohol also. Keep
in mind you should put the setup on a table or a shelf in a draft free
area for easier access and to keep contaminants and mold from falling
into or around your set up. The job of spores is to drop, this way they
find food and can reproduce. If you keep it off the floor, you are keeping
it away from the contaminated environment. Gravity will pull a lot of
the contaminants below your set up if it is on something a few feet
from the floor. Remember to keep in mind that the air that you breathe
is full of contaminants. Do not eat, drink or smoke around your set
up. Beer especially is FULL of yeast, a major contaminant and on your
breath if you are drinking while working around your kit.
That having been said you are now going to spray the
inside of your grow chambers and the lids with some rubbing alcohol.
Wipe them down with a clean cloth and place the lid
on your chamber, always cleaning the inside of everything first, placing
the lid on, than cleaning the outside. Set it aside and do the same
thing for all the tubs that came with your kit. A clean environment
is your friend and you can never be too clean. It's better to be overly
clean than not clean enough. Once you have your grow chambers clean
you are going to do the same thing with your Biosphere, spraying the
inside and outside with the rubbing alcohol to get rid of contamination.

Than wiping it down with a clean and soaked paper towel,
starting with the inside, put on the lid and then clean the outside.
It's a good practice to spray the inside of the tubes that came with
your kit also to kill anything that might be in there.
Fill the main body with store purchased
purified bottled water and 1oz.
Deep Blue Water ®™to the fill line on the clear hose

DO NOT OVER FILL!!!
The unit WILL NOT work properly if you do. DO NOT use
tap water as it contains too many minerals and contaminants
and it will destroy the ionizer disk inside the MesBiosphere.
Screw the cap back onto the Biosphere
just until it stops. It does not need to be tight.
Plug the ionizer into the transformer
that plugs into the wall.

Incubator setup
(if you purchased the #2 or kits #4 ONLY)

#4
Take the 2 tubs with 1 hole drilled in
the bottom middle on the side, locate the 2 rubber grommets and put
them into the hole, if not already in.

Remove the water heater from the box.
Using the Vaseline, apply a thin coating to the glass tube of the water
heater as well as to the grommet. With the heavy gloves on, carefully
and slowly insert the glass tube of the water heater into the rubber
grommet. Do it slowly and gently to avoid breakage!!! (You may also
use a towel to wrap the water heater in…but we can not be held responsible
for any person that may get cut by broken glass because you did not
protect your hands!!!! or used to much pressure.) See photos below.

Remove the thermometer
from the packaging and remove the sticker from the backside. Place it
on the outside of the incubator tub about 1” from the bottom.

Put approximately 2” of water in the incubator.
Check around the grommet to make sure you have no leaks. If you think
you have one slowly and gently rotate the grommet and water heater just
a little bit.
Now when you place the grow tub into the
incubator make sure that the water does not overflow. You don't want
the water too high!! About 3" to 4" up the side of the grow
tub is plenty.(Just below the Co2 exhaust fitting, that is the black
fitting with HEPA filter on it)
Next screw in the 2 black fittings through both
walls of the incubators and grow chambers, double check to see if the
letters match each other "A" hole grow chamber goes inside
"A" hole incubator. Spray both sides of the HEPA filter with
rubbing alcohol and place the HEPA filter on each Co2 exhaust black
fitting.

Now the fun begins!!! Fill it with your
favorite grow medium or use the medium we include and your favorite
mushroom spawn, plug in the water heater and the mushroom biosphere
®™ , then watch and enjoy. (See below
for setup info)
IMPORTANT NOTES: Check
the heat in the incubator to make sure it stays about 82 to 85 degrees
for incubation (spawn run for the first 10 to 14 days) and
65 to 75 degrees for fruiting(after the first 10 to 14 days) If
the incubator gets too high or to low simply adjust your water heater
slowly until you get it right.
Also…check the water level
in you Biosphere ®™ daily… refill ONLY every 3 days NO MORE!!!,
use bottled water and fill it back up to the fill line. (ADD 1 oz
Deep Blue Water ®™ that came with the kit. If you run low you can
always get more from www.mushroomtroll.com
)
Set
up without the Incubators (main growing chambers with or without incubator)

Once you have the unit set up and ready to go
Take the bags of vermiculite, perlite
and the Magic Coconut Coir
Growth Booster®™ that comes with your kit
.

(Vermiculite will be the large brown
bag, perlite is the white bag and the Magic
Coconut Coir Growth Booster®™ is the small brown bag)
You will add 1000 ml. of bottled water to each of the perlite bags and
1500 ml. of bottled water to eachof the vermiculite bags . Add 500 ml
of store bought bottle water to each bag of Magic Coconut
Coir Growth Booster®™ Microwave for 15 minute on high. Let
cool.
READ!!!!!
Please take note
that newer microwaves will take a lot less time. Check your bags every
3 to 5 minutes.
The microwaving process
should kill all the possible contaminants.
Magic
Coconut Coir Growth Booster®™

Make sure the bags are sealed,
open just enough for steam to escape. (You don't
want them to explode in your microwave.) Carefully place each
bag into your microwave (if you place it on a plate it makes removal
from the microwave easier) and let it run for 10 to 15 minutes
on high to sterilize them (depending on your type of microwave).
REMOVE CAREFULLY FROM MICROWAVE BECAUSE IT WILL BE HOT!!!!!! DO NOT
OVER HEAT SO YOU DO NOT MELT A HOLE IN THE BAG. CHECK ON IT EVERY 3
TO 5 MINUTES AND IF YOUR MICROWAVE DOES NOT SPIN, ROTATE YOUR BAG 180
DEGREES SO THAT YOU GET EVEN HEATING THROUGHOUT. If a bag should tear
DO NOT try to salvage what spills out. Immediately apply masking tape
or duct tape to the hole and discard what fell out. It is now contaminated
!!! Accidents happen so don't stress over it. Just tape the bag and
throw away the mess that spilled out. What is inside the bag is still
sterile and usable.
Allow to cool so they are barely warm to the touch.
DO EVERYTHING VERY CAREFULLY
FROM THIS POINT ON !!!Put on your mask, rubber gloves and spray
your arms and hands with rubbing alcohol. Open the lid of one of the
grow chambers about 12" by sliding it backwards,

minimizing the air flow into the chamber but
having enough room to pour the bag in. DO NOT place the entire bag inside
the grow chamber. Instead POUR the bag in the chamber. The perlite (white)
bag goes in first, gently open the 1 bag and pour it into the chamber.
Slowly pour perlite in each chamber.

Open one lid at a time and close each lid as
you finish working on that chamber. Now smooth out the perlite and make
it level, using a flat hand . It is very important to have each
layer nice and smooth. The more smooth and even the layers, the more
even the flush of mushrooms will be. Do not pat or compact any layer.
Take your hands out and close the lid. Do the same thing in
the other chamber (make sure that NO clothing or skin touch ANY part
of the inside of the tub). Remember to keep everything in your favor
by being as cautious as possible and minimizing contamination as much
as you can.
Next lay your spawn down . You
need at least 3-4 lbs. of fully colonized spawn per grow chamber.(if
you don't have a spawn bag go to www.mushroomtroll.com
and order Colonized
Organic Rye Grain HEPA Filter Bags ( 8 Pounds of fresh live mycelium
spawn. Spray the outside of the bag and a pair of scissors
with rubbing alcohol. Also spray your arms and hands again. (Always
spray your hands before they go back into the tubs.) Break
the spawn inside the bag without rupturing the bag (this a little tricky
but fairly easy)
before
and
after
Cut open the top of the spawn
bag(Colonized
Organic Rye Grain HEPA Filter Bags ( 8 Pounds of fresh live mycelium
spawn) and GENTLY put ½ of theColonized
Organic Rye Grain HEPA Filter Bags ( 8 Pounds of fresh live mycelium
spawnbag into 1 chamber on top of the perlite you
laid before. Break the spawn into small pieces as you level it out in
the chamber covering the whole thing.

Do the same in each chamber. Make sure you
close the lid on the one you are not working in.
Next lay your Magic
Coconut Coir Growth Booster®™ pouring
equal amounts and smoothing it out nice and even.

Now slowly pour equal amounts
of vermiculite (Brown) into the tubs. Gently pouring 1 bag
in each tub and leveling it over the entire tub.

It's now done. Close
the lid and make sure you hear the snap from the lid (twice, one
for each end)Let the Mushroom Biosphere ®™
unit run for 48 hours continuously and refill to the line as needed
for the first 48 hours. After that you will need to plug the
Mushroom
Biosphere ®™ into a timer that is set to run for 20 minutes
every 2 hours for 2 chambers and 30 minutes every 2 hour for 4 chambers(not
included in the kit). The pump needs to be plugged directly
into the wall and allow to run for 24 hours a day.
- With in a day or two of colonization you should take a
black garbage bag, fold it to about 4” wide and tape it around the
bottom of the incubator tub, then put it someplace that it gets plenty
of light so that the ‘shrooms grow upwards, not back into the substrate
(mushroom are phototropic,attracted to light
and not photosynthesis ,use light as energy source)(using a 4
feet double bulb fixture from your local hardware store with 2 day
light bulbs will produce more then enough light for 2 to 4 large grow
chambers).Leave the light on for about 6 to 8
hours at a time. I prefer to use shop light with an electronic ballast,
it is lighter and produces less heat than the one with an electric
ballast. If you have problems telling the difference in the box. One
is heavy and one is light. You want the light one.
Remember to re-fill
your Mushroom Biosphere ®™ every 3 days, NO more!!!! (ADD
1/2 oz Deep Blue Water ®™ that came with the kit every time you
refill! If you run low you can always get more from www.mushroomtroll.com
). Don't worry if the Biosphere runs dry; the ionizer will
not burn up. If it has no water it simply will not run. If you fill
it too much you run the risk of having liquid accumulate in the bottom
of your grow chamber which will cause water log and rot everything away.
WATER LOG: If for
any reason this would happen to you DON'T PANIC!!!
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUNCTURE A HOLE
AT ONE END CORNER OF THE CHAMBER OF ABOUT 1/8 OF AN INCH IN DIAMETER
AND LET THE EXTRA WATER DRIP IN TO A CONTAINER AND THROW THE WATER AWAY
(in the garden is always my first choice. You never know what mother
nature has in reserve for you ;)
HAPPY SHROOMING!!!!!!
